This stretch of road (SH12) is literally lined with huge and impressive Kauri Trees.
Waipoua Forest preserves some of the best examples of kauri forest remaining in New Zealand. It is notable for having two of the largest living kauri trees, Tane Mahuta (largest) and Te Matua Ngahere (largest by girth).

This cache is a 400ml sistema container, hidden snuggly in what should be a very obvious spot - just reach in there - at a spot along SH12, where the road squeezes between two of the forest's giants.
There is a safe place to stop just after the "main squeeze" when travelling north. BYO pen.
