Geocache Description:

Former military airfield with visable traces of military activity.
Före detta militärt flygfältsområde med synliga spår från militär aktivitet.

The military airfield in Everöd was built in 1939 and was in the beginning of the sixties modernized to be a BAS60 military base for fighter jets and reconnaissance aircrafts. The 102nd fighter division would in the event of war defend the country with the fighter jets J29 Flying Barrel and J35F Dragon.


Large parts of the airfield is now taken over by Kristianstad Airport but northwest of the airfield we can find BAKOM (in English BEHIND). The idea of BAS60 was to spread out the aircrafts over larger areas and thereby become less vulnerable to bombings. At the FRAMOM (in English AHEAD and means something like forward preparation area) there were fighters in the highest combat readiness. 1-2 km from the airfield was BAKOM (rear preparation area) where fighters and reconnaissance aircrafts were prepared for missions. Approximately 5-10 km from the field aircrafts was placed in UOM (parking area) for major overhaul and repair or as a reserve.

In parts of the Everöd BAKOM there was also built a small practice area for the air defense missile Bloodhound Mk 2.


Everöds militära flygfält (Fält 4) byggdes 1939 och blev i början på 60-talet moderniserat till Bas 60-nivå för att bli en kombinerad jakt- och attackbas. Här skulle i händelse av krig 102 jaktdivisionen med flygplanen J29 Flygande Tunnan och J35F Draken försvara landet.

Stora delar av flygfältet är nu övertagna av Kristianstad Airport, men nordväst om flygplatsen finns BAKOM. Tanken med en Bas 60-flygbas var att sprida ut flygplanen över större område och därmed bli mindre sårbara vid bombanfall. Vid FRAMOM (fämre klargöringsområde) fanns jaktflygplan i högsta startberedskap. 1-2 km från flygfältet placerades BAKOM (bakre klargöringsområde) där attack- och spaningsflygplanen klargjordes för uppdrag. Cirka 5-10 km från fältet placerades flygplan i UOM (uppställningsområde) för mer omfattande översyn och reparation eller som reserv.

I delar av Everöds BAKOM byggdes också ett mindre övningsområde för LuftvärnsrobotsystemB 68 ”Bloodhound”.
