Geocache Description:

Please Upload Photos of your visit!
This location commemorates the first Powder Mill built in the United States by Samuel Phillips Jr in 1776 (also the founder of Phillips Academy). The powder was used in the Revolutionary War to supply the Continental Land and Sea forces. Please park across the street at the Post Office and not on private property. Tx

The mill provided the Continental Army with gun powder during the American Revolution. Unfortunately three different explosions over the years killed 5 men and eventually caused the mill to stop making gun powder in 1796. The actual site of the mill is located behind and to the left of the marker on the Shawsheen river. I've driven past this location a thousand times and just recently discovered it's existence.

Bring a pen and maybe tweezers if you want to log your find!

Congratulations to MattBecc for FTF
Congratulations to UncleJimbo for STF, glad you both enjoyed the container :-)
