[FIN] Tämä kätkösarja esittelee alussa ja lopussa suoraviivaisesti kulkevan, välillä hyvin voimakkaasti meanderoivan salomaiden halki virtaavan Rauanjoen.

[ENG] This cacheserie introduces for you in the beginning and in the end staightly flowing but in the middle strongly meandering Rauanjoki (The River of the Iron)

Rauanjoki saa alkunsa Rauanjärvestä, joka sijaitsee Juuan eteläosassa. Martovaara-Polvela välinen tie kulkee järven länsipuolella rantoja myötäillen. Vesialaa järvellä on 420 hehtaaria, ja kokonaisrantaviivaa sillä on noin 39 kilometriä. Järveä luonnehtivat pitkät niemet ja monet saaret. Suurin saarista on Hoskansaari. Rauanjärvi saa vetensä noin 5 964 hehtaarin suuruiselta valuma-alueelta. Järvi on luode-kaakko suuntainen, pituudeltaan 6,6 km ja sen keskellä on kapea n. 2 km pitkä neulamainen Pitkäniemi. Juuan kunta myy järven rannoilta kaavoitettuja kesämökkitontteja. Rauanjoki on loppupäästään voimakkaasti meanderoiva joki. Täällä yläjuoksulla joki kulkee melko suoraviivaisesti salomaiden halki. Kätkö on kooltaan small ja löydettävissä läpi vuoden.

[ENG] Rauanjoki starts from Rauanjärvi, which is in the southern part of Juuka municipality. The way between Martonvaara and Polvela goes on the western side of the lake near the besch. The waterarea of the lake is 429 hectars and the lenght of the coastline is about 39 kilometers. There are long capes and many islands in the lake. The biggest island is Hoskansaari. The lake collates its water from an area of 5964 hectars. The lenght of the lake is 6,6 kilometers, it is located in northwest-southeast direction and in middle of the lake is about 2 kilometers long cape like a needle, it's called Pitkäniemi. The municipality of Juuka is selling summerhouseblocks on the beaches. This river is a strongly meandering river especially in the souhthern parts of the river. Here in the beginning it flows quiet directly trough the forest. The cache is small and you can find it also in the wintertime.
