Behind the Carrot Curtain Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

TEAM SCHUTTE: The dinamics of the park has changed, and as a result, there is only one suitable spot left for a cache here. I had to choose between a cache placed 2012, or one which has a lot of favorite points. Really die not want to, but need to archive this one, and move the other cache to a safer location.
Thank you for all the great logs on this one.

Geocache Description:

In the heart of the Harry Giddy Park.
Access is 09:00 to 17:00
Plenty of shops and even a public library across the road.

NEEDED for this cache: Children. >>> They will love it.
OPTIONAL: Picnic. >>> Perfect spot for one.
RECOMMENDED: Donation. >>> To help with the upkeep of the park. The donation box is right next to the entrance gate to the animals. Entry is otherwise 100% free to all areas of the park.

This park is where I used to play often in the 80's. I went to the primary school right next door! The Harry Giddy park saw some years of neglect, but in recent years the municipality have done sterling work bringing it back to life. You will see lots of trees climbed by me, and lately by my own children!

The spot I found is a bit nostalgic. The little arched bridge over the duck pond is the very same one I crossed over daily on my way to and from school. There was no pond then and the animals soon disappeared along with the playground. Today there is mostly birds but a few other animals including ponies to look at. There is lots of play places and pathways and wild birds are frolicking by the hundreds in the trees. The park now have security guards patrolling the grounds, so you can be assured of a safe visit.

Note on the actual name of the cache - if you do not understand Afrikaans:
In Afrikaans we use the same word for "roots" and "carrots," namely "wortels." Its an old joke to say "A tree has carrots." (Complete with grammatical abuses...) Thus when I talk about "carrots", replace it with "roots."

The cache is in the animal area. There is this big tree with carrots growing from its branches. You will find a whole curtain of carrots growing down. In the animal area, there is plenty of picnic tables. The coordinates may be quite a bit off under that tree, the best I could get out of it was about 2.5m accuracy. Please hide the container as you find it. While retrieving, muggles behind your back may be the problem.
