Geocache Description:

Walking by the... (Series)

Walking by the River Stort

And why not take a day off and walk along the River Stort?

It was only in the 16th century that this river receives his name., 'Stort', that comes from the town where it flows, Bishops Stortford. The river starts at Langley Hills, past in Harlow to Feildes Weir where it joins the River Lea.
The River Stort it's really important for the environment, we can see a lot of different species of birds, that came to this river to feed, or during migration, and many more.
If you like long walks in a place where you can really enjoy the life, take amazing photos of the landscape, or just being in a place where you can rest without the noise of cars, where you can just be in peace, why not take the walk between Bishops Stortford and Harlow? It only will take you about 2:30h, and you will really enjoy the nature and make same caches along the way!

The journey begins in Bishop's Stortford rail station. The walk it's only about 8km (5 miles) and it's suitable for wheelchairs, pushchairs, dogs, bicycles and so on. For more information about the River Stort Walk go to the Hertfordshire website.
