This cache is in the desert!!! Even though it is only a couple hundred feet off the road please make proper desert preparations like having enough water at the minimum and someone not in your caching group knowing about where you will be just in case.
Ok - now that all the safety stuff is mentioned... about the hide!
Redfist and I were in the area, grabbing a cache or two, and took part in a small adventure. We decided to place a cache in tribute to our fun together. As we drove along, we both noticed this rock formation near the road and thought, how is a cache not there? Well, there is one now. This hide is pretty straightforward. You do not need to climb on the rocks, you can stand on flat ground, and no reaching into deep cracks is required for this one. The original container was an "Official Geocache" lock-in-lock container from Groundspeak. It is now a .30 cal ammo can in hopes it will last happily for another 10+ years.
The road to the cache is doable for most SUVs or trucks, but I do not recommend a low clearance, passenger-type tires, or non-4x4 vehicles as it can be rugged in parts
