Geocache Description:

A micro cache, in a location that can often be quite busy - it is the main thoroughfare between the university science site and town. However, if you sit on the bench at N56.20.399, W002.48.357 then you will be close and have a good opportunity to wait for a quiet moment before nipping behind the undergrowth, where you can look for the cache – still be stealthy though as the spot is nonetheless overlooked from the pavement!

Kinburn Park in St Andrews is probably overlooked by many tourists and visitors. However, it is a lovely little park that is home to St Andrews Tennis and Lawn Bowling clubs. Being walled/hedged in, it is often quite sheltered from the wind (which often blows in St Andrews), and in the summer usually has a good display of flowers. Go to N56.20.397, W002.48.339 for an information board on the Jurassic garden, including the small monkey puzzle trees. It is an ideal place for small kids to have a run around.

If you go to N56.20.399, W002.48.307 there is a bust commemorating General Sikorski, who was head of the Polish armed forces during WWII and died in a place crash shortly after take-off from Gibraltar (see the web for various conspiracies regarding this event). The bust is here as a large number of Polish forces were based in the area after the capitulation of Poland in 1939.
At N56.20.401, W002.48.264 there is what looks like it could have once been a drinking fountain dedicated to Baden-Powell and the actions at Mafeking.

Kinburn Park is also home to St Andrews Museum, which is open all year round and free (a quick web search will show your their website). It has a good permanent exhibit about St Andrews from prehistoric times until the present, usually has a more temporary exhibition and also has a rather nice little cafe.

Well done DT_Menace and WT_Softie on the FTF - happy birthday!

Note: Cache is IN the park, just inside the stone wall (even if your GPS puts you outside. Seems like accurate coords here were/are an issue here sometimes!)
