Geocache Description:

This is a nano hidden at the Nakusp Marina. Near GZ are two park benches - this is a beautiful place to stop for a rest and enjoy the view. While you enjoy the view you can imagine and remember the past. The history of the town of Nakusp began in 1892, it was suspected that Nakusp would become a mining town. Nakusp became a shipping route for the mining industry and therefore a thriving community. In 1892 there were not many roadways and therefore Nakusp was the hub for moving goods via the waterway to Revelstoke then onto the train in Revelstoke. In 1951 Celgar began logging operations and the logging industry took over the mining industry as Nakusp soon became the center of the pole and lumber industry. On November 24, 1964, Nakusp became incorporated. The first mayor at the time was Joseph Parent, and the population was about 1750.
