This one is to celebrate my Father's 75th Birthday on 8th April 2012 and the theme is Steam! It would be nice to try to keep the Steam Theme although I appreciate it may be difficult but, if you can, please try to keep your swaps to train related items or alternatively Alnwick/Coldstream paraphanalia.
Placed along a public footpath which follows the trackbed of the disused NER Alnwick to Cornhill Line which opened to freight and passengers fully on 5th September 1887. The line had to be split into two parts after a storm in 1949 washed away a bridge just north of Ilderton Station. British Railways (who had recently taken over the line) decided that due to the decreasing amount of traffic on the line, it wasn't worth replacing the bridge and the Alnwick to Ilderton part of this line eventually closed on 2nd March 1953.
