Very old cemetery that dates back to the early 1800's. There once was a church on the site. The church wasn't very big and when I first moved here in the mid 1970's I thought it was spooky looking. The ground is not the levelest so be careful both in parking and walking to the cache.
I parked at the name sign for the cemetery. The coordinates given are for parking not the cache.Be care during the day when shift change is going on at Davis Besse otherwise its very peaceful at this cache site. This cemetery is located on Turtle Creek and I really haven't found much information about it other then the area was settled by the French during the 1500's thus the Frenchtown name. Alot of the names are the same as today just spelled differently. I am impressed as to how many fought in the Civil War. Am definitely going to get more information about the St. Joseph Cemetery and will up-date then.
This cemetery is rather easy to move around in no unmarked graves just unlevel and can be flooded after a heavy rain. However there is an amazing show of nature I'll let you decide I think its rather amazing. Please DAYLIGHT caching only and please respect all the graves. Salute all the veterans of our military while there.
