Geocache Description:

Follow all park rules.
You will need a boat to get to this cache; rent canoe/kayak from the park rangers at the main visitors center for a small fee or bring your own.

Rainbow Island is at Merchants Millpond State Park. (visit link)

A canoe/kayak is needed to get to this cache.
Rent a canoe/kayak with paddles and life jackets from the rangers ($5 per hour) or bring your own.
The log is held in with a rod and pin; please be careful not to lose these.

Follow all NC State Park Rules.
Only attempt to find this cache during park hours:
November –February 8AM-6PM
March-May, September, October 8AM-8PM
June-Agust 8AM-9PM (closed December 25th each year).
The Merchant Millpond park rangers request that we post the following message, "cache searchers leave a note on their vehicle's dashboard identifying the operator as being a geocacher."
The boat launch is behind the Visitor Center.
The trail has no handicap access.

The paddle is about a mile each way (about 30 minutes of leisurely paddeling). Follow the white bouys to the orange bouys to the yellow bouys; the park rangers will give you a map if you ask or if you rent a canoe/kayak.

After finding this cache, paddle over to find Coleman’s Look geocache (GC2KX1F) on Coleman Trail. Pick-up Sticks (GC39KZ5) is also near the boat launch.
