Geocache Description:

1. Pill Bottle container
2. Extreme hike #22
3. Hiking Time: 1 hour 25 minutes from parking
4. Elevation gain: 1,276'
5. Distance from parking: .44 as the bird flies
6. Not recommended for kids
7. Watch for rattlesnakes. I haven’t seen any but they are up here.
8. Bring a camera and plenty of water.

I hike these mountains in late winter to early spring every year to get in shape for the summer backpacking season. These are steep ridges with great views. This string of caches was an afternoon hike. It took me four hours round trip which included placing the caches and taking pictures. If you skip the last two caches it is an easier hike. The first cache “Last Chance” is a fun cache close to the parking area and is your last chance for a easy hike. The second cache “Little Bear Cave” has a great view and is a short steep hike. The third cache “Graveyard” just continues up the ridge. The views just better as you go up. The forth cache “Are We There Yet” has a great view of the canyon. I spotted what looked like a cave across the ravine and up the hill which I wanted to explore. It wasn’t a real cave but it was cool. I called this cache “Big Bear Cave”. Looking down this ridge I saw the top of the lower cliff and decided to go and get some pictures there and place the last cache “WOW!”. It has a great view of the parking area and the canyon. From here you have to hike back up the hill some to cut back across to the ridge you came up. Lots of rocks so be careful. Bring a camera and water. Watch for snakes.
