Larcum Kendall was BURNING THE CANDLE AT BOTH ENDS between the SETTING AND RISING OF THE SUN; wondering HOW MANY MOONS HAVE PASSED on the RISING TIDE as it washed over the LAYERS OF ROCK containing FOSSILS of SHELLS WITH RINGS similar to those of the TREE.
