Geocache Description:

My first cache hide at a location that brings back many great memories of friends and family.

Boyden Lake was named for the family of Delphia Boyden, who built homes and lived along the shores. The lake was originally named "Nasahick" by the Indians which could be interpreted to mean "Muddy Waters". Boyden Lake is located in both the towns of Perry and Robbinston. There is a public boat landing in Robbinston. The waters of Boyden Lake were once used as a source of power for lumber and grist mills.

Today it is the source of water for Passamaquoddy Water District, supplying portions of Perry, Pleasant Point, and Eastport. Today, local sport fishermen enjoy recreational fishing for bass, salmon, trout, perch and pickerel as much in summer as during the ice fishing season. It is not uncommon to see an American Bald Eagle or two (or 20+ in the winter) flying overhead hoping to catch a fish of their own.

Boyden Lake is lightly developed and offers terrific swimming, fishing, boating and wildlife viewing opportunities. There are several nesting loons in the area as well as kingfishers, pileated woodpeckers and many other species of birds. The fishermen in the group will enjoy angling for smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, white perch, chain pickerel and landlocked salmon

Having grown up in Eastport Maine, I remember many summers as boy cooling off with a dip in the lake, and a lunch in Bishop's Field. Anyone remember the 'Swimming Bus?'

This is my first cache, all items are child friendly, toys, cards, play-dough, and some collectables. There is also a GoeCoin.
