#1 Chavenage Circuit
Here is another one of our circuits in the area. Consisting of five caches, which range from a medium snap lock box down to an unknown. Also why not pick up the other local caches whilst here if you have not done them already.
Suggested parking spot N51 39.030 W002 10.286
This walk will take you through some quiet stretches of managed woodland, then into open fields before finishing up near your starting place. It is around two and a half miles, so depending on how fast you walk will take about one and a half hours. However take your time and enjoy the peace and quiet of the walk.
We have set the terrain at two as in parts the track could get muddy when wet, there are the old fashioned stone stiles to cross and some modern steep ones, not really suitable for the normal child’s buggy. If you have a geodog with you, there are farm animals in some of the field, lambs when we set the circuit. Also between cache four and cache five the farmer has planted his crop across the footpath. At the moment we suggest you walk around the outside of the field to the right.
This walk was set using the local 25,000 OS map and is current at the time of publishing.
Directions to the first cache from the suggested parking spot.
From where you have parked your car take the narrow lane which leads down from the main road which at its entrance has a “unsuitable for vehicles” sign, do not use the access road down to the quarry. At the T junction at the bottom of the hill bear left for a short distance.
If you have children please take care on this section of the walk. Though not busy it is still a road.
You are looking for a small clip lock box with small swaps in it but no pen.
Please note that since all the rain a stream which was not there when we set the series has now appeared. The section between #1 and #2 in now very muddy.
Also the stream now cuts across the public footpath where you have to cross the stile to get to #2, please be careful if you decide to cross it.
Congratulation to Rosie&T on being FTF
