A Tribute to Phillips Cables.
The Phillips Cable Plant was built in a number of phases, beginning in 1922.
Located on King Street West in Brockville, the plant was also linked directly to the Brockville & Westport Railway. When it closed in 1996, the plant employed 335 people. Its demolition in 2008 served as a reminder of the plant's importance to Brockville as hundreds turned out to witness the demolition of the plant's iconic chimney. Most residents of Brockville had either a friend a relative or a family member working at the plant during it's 74 year history in Brockville. It was such a vibrant member of the community and will sorely missed by many.
Please note: an extensive collection of photographs of the Phillips plant are available at the Brockville museum. Photo’s and info courtesy of Brockville Museum.
