Inspired by irsusan’s Topeka E.G.G. hunt, we hid these E.G.G.s on Easter Sunday 2012. 31st street is on the edge of the Baker Wetlands. An easy P & G.
The wetlands consist of 573 acres with more than 6 miles of trails available for walking, biking, or jogging. The Baker Wetlands is one of the most diverse habitats in Douglas County, home to many birds, flowers, plants and insects. As we drive by here nearly every day, we often see geese, ducks, egrets, herons, red winged blackbirds, and other birds. You may also see raccoons, opossum, beaver, and otters. In addition, salamanders, frogs, and turtles are common sights as well. All of these sightings are dependent upon the season of course.
There is a parking area on the south side of 31st Street between Haskell Avenue and Louisiana Street, it is also common to see cars parked on the shoulder of 31st street. Please do exercise caution near the street as it is commonly a very busy street. Therefore, the muggle factor can be high, but there are often things going on in this area so you may be able to blend in without too much trouble. Do a little CITO, or whip out the old camera, and you’ll probably go unnoticed as well.
The Wetlands themselves are open to the public during daylight hours, but the E.G.G.s should be findable 24/7. BYOP
So, come on out to the Baker Wetlands, enjoy all they have to offer, and grab an E.G.G. or two, or three while you’re at it.
