Geocache Description:

In the early 1930`s the 4 mast schooner "Peter McIntyre" was being repaired at the shipyard in Meteghan, when the cables broke. After breaking apart, a large section of the schooner ended up travelling up the bay and in a storm came up the Meteghan River, where at very low tides the remains of part of the hull can be clearly seen (half a mile upstream from the Meteghan River bridge). The " Peter McIntyre" was built in St. John, N.B. in 1920 by it`s namesake and had a lenght of 162 feet.
For a view of the wreckage, find the cache, and from the cache walk straight out to the river and you will easily see it, at N44 degrees 13.180, W 066 degrees 07.958. The cache is avaliable at high and low tides, but you will only see the wreckage at very low tides. The water level in the river remains low for hours after the tide is coming in at the ocean. At high tides simply enjoy a beautiful view of the Meteghan River.
For easy access to the cache park on Saulnier Road at N44 degrees 13.293, W 066 degrees 08.043 and follow the little purple ribbons down to the river. At the end of the little field, you will need to veer to the left. Just look for the ribbons. There are other ways to get to the cache, but this way is the easiest. You will go down a steep bank. Please be careful. Then you can either walk on the grassy mud flats (easy walking) or follow a small path in the woods along the riverbank to the cache. This cache can also be accessed by boat or canoe via the Meteghan River.
