Geocache Description:

The first part of the walk can be muddy and a bit slippery if its been raining, the second part is lava rock so wear good shoes and be careful!

As a resident of the Puna area, I've picked some of my most favorite places to share with geocachers!  I feel these each have a unique landscape or exceptional surroundings to make them a "MUST SEE" in my neck of the woods! Please enjoy the area and let me know if I can answer anything for you!!

A wonderful, scenic place but the walk down can be a bit rough! The cache is an official geocache container. The pool is about a 100 feet further on past the cache!

From the Big Island Revealed Book:

The enormous pool (250 feet long) is naturally ensconced in a rugged lava shoreline. It's 5 feet deep in spots and backed by a thick grove of lovely Hala trees. Meandering around the pool is fun while you scramble over the occasional lava obstacle. If you don't have some cheap water/reef shoes, navigating the rounded-boulder floor will be unpleasant. There is shade near the pool until noon. Water splashes into the pool from the ocean. Only during big surf or very high tide is it anything but gentle in the pool.

Mosquitoes can be a problem! I'd suggest you bring bug spray!!

Gratz to wholagal for FTF!!
