Gromlech at Clynnog Fawr - Standing Stones Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Southerntrekker: Hi There

As the owner has not responded to either my log or my colleague's previous log requesting that they check this cache I am archiving it.

Please note that once the cache has been archived, this can not be undone. This is explained in the Help Center - http://support.groundspeak.com//index.php?pg=kb.page&id=70

You will need to create a new listing, put it back in for review and as long as it meets today's guidelines and no other caches have been published in the area causing a proximity problem, then it will be published.

Regards

Geocache Description:

Cache is situated on the footpath leading to ancient standing stones which are in a field overlooking the coast.

These ancient standing stones called Bachwen Standing Stones or Gromlech are in the village of Clynnog about 12 miles south of Caernarfon in North Wales.

The stones are thought to be approx. 5,000 years old in the Neolithic period.

Park in the village and walk down the public footpath at the side of the church, put all dogs on leads, keeping the church on the right as you walk down the lane. Take care crossing the new bypass and continue (through stone gateposts) down the lane. Go through the kissing gate and follow a well made road. At the junction where the road turns to the right into Bachwen cottages, turn left along a well marked path flanked by stone walls and hedges (this can be muddy). Watch out for sheep and cattle. After about 500 yards or so the path ends at a gate. The cache is located at the base of the direction post. The cache is NOT in the ancient monument itself.
