Geocache Description:

Fisher's Mill Park provides some great views of the Dundas Peak and really shows off its 'peakiness'.

Tucked away in a corner of the park is a memorial to two women from 1974. I've tried to find out who they are and what happened, but my snooping skills have failed me.

So, I'm calling on fellow Geocachers to visit the site and share what they know about the memorial. Let's call it a CIMO: Cache In, Memory Out.

The cache is a nano with only a log. Please bring your own pen. The actual memorial is at the waymark below.

Congratulations to Foamy on the FTF and B&B on the STF.

[The 4 Cache-keteers have revealed the details of the memorial. Thank you so much. I knew I could count on the Geocaching community.]

I can shed some light on the mystery. I was in Dundas this weekend visiting my parents so they came with us to search for the monument and came up with some of the history. I can remember the car accident from my youth. It happened on the nearby hill where the train bridge crosses the road. The other car involved was at fault. The monument used to be across the road at the old high school. We believe that it was moved when the property was sold to make condominiums. The girls were several years older than I and I don't know if they were students or recent graduates of DDHS at the time. (Dundas District High School). It was very sad.

I have lots of memories of this park, as it was the playing field for my high school across the road. I remember soccer balls popping when they were kicked onto the road and hit by a passing Grey Hound bus. Now that the school is being turned into condo’s, I can't imagine living in Mr. Begin's old math room….very scary thought!
