Out exploring the Wayah Bald area one day, we happened on this beautiful trail. Approximately .75 miles long (each way, out and back), the former logging road is wide, grassed, and very family friendly. It crosses the AT, passes a nice cascade of Shot Pouch Creek, wanders throught the woods, and terminates in an open meadow, seemingily frequented by wildlife (we saw what we assume is evidence of wild hog rooting). From the meadow, a great view of the Franklin area is available.
The trail has some grade change, so stop and enjoy the surroundings periodically. The cache is a camoed container hidden in a non-traditional manner.
