Geocache Description:

The Pleasant Hill Swedish Methodist Cemetery is located in Hayes Township 6.5 miles north of Clay Center on K-15 in the NE corner of Clay County. You are looking for a silver bison partially covered with camouflaged tape.

Welcome to The Three C’s series of caches. My aunt taught me the three C’s growing up to be calm, cool, and collective. However in this series the three C’s are Clay County Cemeteries. Some of the cemeteries in Clay county have already been claimed, but many have not.

The first burials were in 1870—three children of the Ekholm family. Johan died in August of 1870 at the age of one year; his sister Christina died in September of 1870. She was eight years old. In November of the same year, Erika at the age of three and on-half years died. We can only wonder why the tragedy occurred. An inscription on one of the old stones reads:

“In God’s own morn her orb will rise
Once more a star of Paradise
On that bright immortal shore
We shall meet to part no more.”

Please be respectful of those buried in the cemetery and leave the grounds in the same condition or better when you leave. The cache should be relatively easy to find with no bush whacking required. Good luck and happy hunting.
