Geocache Description:

The cache is located off the Offa's Dyke footpath with runs along Hergest Ridge. This is a beautiful area with stunning scenery and is popular with many walkers. The walk is a fairly steep incline to the top of the hill which may be difficult for people who are very unfit, although there is a conveniently placed bench about halfway up. Please be aware that there are many wild horses and sheep grazing on the hills so please keep dogs under control.

Hergest Ridge is a large elongated hill which traverses the border between England and Wales between the town of Kington in Herefordshire and the village of Gladestry in Powys. Its highest point, which is in England, is 1397 feet high. A disused Victorian circular country racecourse is sited on the hill and is still easily visible on the ground. Take a moment to look at the strange trees at the top of the hill which seem a little out of place. The Offa's Dyke Path waymarked long distance footpath leads along the ridge. The path passes close by the highest point of the ridge and the adjacent trig point. The cache is located within sight of the trig point. It is a small, clear box with logbook and a few items to swap. I hope you enjoy this cache and Hergest Ridge which is one of my favourite places.
