The White Sulphur Springs cemetery is located behind the White Sulphur Methodist Church, Route 52 East. Park at rear of the church parking lot –- path leading to the cemetery can be easily seen.
White Sulphur Springs was originally named Robertsonville, after Bradley Robertson, who with his brother Bronson, settled in the area in 1809. Please note the many gravestones within the cemetery inscribed with the Robertson name.
In the 1880’s the hamlet gained notoriety for its sulphur springs, the water from which was proclaimed to heal or cure a variety of diseases. The post office was officially changed to White Sulphur Springs on December 23, 1890.
The White Sulphur Springs House, one of 5 substantial hotels once located in the hamlet, opened its doors in 1889, becoming a popular Sullivan County resort –- with a boardwalk laid from the hotel to the springs.
Cache is placed away from gravestones and is NOT in the stone wall. Please be respectful of your surroundings, and of course no night caching in this or any cemetery
