This cache is a magnetic nano. Please note where the cache is attached to, and replace it in the same place!
Not recommended as a drive by, this is a busy road, please walk carefully and keep an eye on traffic.
This cache is part of a 5 mile circular walk around the parish of Quernmore, which lies at the head of the Conder valley.
The cache is named after the cottage nearby.
We recommend that after finding this cache, you head to Valley View and follow the caches in this anti clockwise direction, as the footpaths are easier to follow this way.
The highlight of village events takes place in May with Quernmore Field Day. These sports, known as 'L'ile Grasmere', have produced some well-known Cumberland and Westmorland wrestlers. A Fell Race scaling Clougha Pike started some years ago proves very popular, with over 100 entrants in 1989.
Quernmore life has changed little over the years. Mushroom growing is now part of the valley life, with a snail farm being the latest venture. Tourists drive through on their way to the Trough of Bowland, and there are now craft centres to visit. A male voice choir is kept busy, and a youth club caters for the teenagers. Church and chapel are well supported with a growing Sunday school.
If you're not tall enough to reach this cache, we'll accept a photo of cache at GZ.
