Geocache Description:

A public access trail has been constructed to reach the previous land locked BLM lands around Berryessa Peak.

In 2008 a private landowner allowed a public trail easement for access to the Berryessa summit. Some local organzations have been building the trail every since and have done a very good job. The trailhead is located along the Berryessa Knoxville Road.

You will start out on a trail along side a winding creek. After a bit you'll come to a fork - take the right turn up a hill along an old road. Things will soon get steep and the trail will guide you to a fence which you will need to cross to continue your hike. Please stay on the trail from this point. We don't want to upset the owners whom are allowing this public easement. You'll past many neat rock formations and have many great views. At about 1 mile to the peak the trail will drop you down to a gravel road to complete your trek. I understand that there are plans to continue the trail along the ridge to the peak.

The cache is a small clear container hidden very well at the peak. Please note that there is a glass jar very nearby with a log sheet being used for a peak log. This is NOT the geocache. The geocache container is marked as such. The hint will knock off a point for the difficulty. Expect a 14+ miles round trip hike with about 3800ft elevation gain.

Be very careful of snakes. Many ticks were encountered during the hike up here in April. Take as much water as you can carry - you'll need it.
