Geocache Description:

An easy cache in memory of a great Australian!

Flora McDonald Lodge can tract its history in an unbroken line to the House of Providence Mary MacKillop and Father Julian Tenison Woods established in 1868, initiially located in West Terrace, Adelaide for aged and destitute persons. Mary MacKillop Care SA Ltd is an amalgamation of all of the four aged care services previously managed by the Sisters of St. Joseph and also includes.... • Tappeiner Court Nursing Home • Tenison Woods Aged Care Services and • St Catherine's Berri Flora MacDonald, born in Scotland, was Mary MacKillop's mother. Mary MacKillop was born in Melbourne in 1842. When she was in Penola she met Julian Tenison Woods and together they opened the first St Joseph's School in 1866. Mary MacKillop founded the Sisters of St Joseph, who have established schools all over Australia and New Zealand as well as other institutions to help the poor. Mary MacKilop's famous saying was "Never see a need without doing something about it" Well..... there was a need, a geochache in her honour, and something has been done about it! This is one of many caches placed in significant locations of her story. Mary died on August 8th, 1909. She was declared Australia’s first Saint in 2010. Please replace cache as found... out of sight,
