Geocache Description:

This geocache is located in the hamlet of Hamlet and could potentially be a quick find on a beautiful drive.

*Please note that the geocache is not located in the cemetery or on the monument! So please respect those that are resting and their families.

"Hear the sledges with the bells
Silver bells!
What a world of merriment their melody foretells!
How they tinkle, tinkle, tinkle,
In the icy air of night!
While the stars that oversprinkle
All the heavens, seem to twinkle
With a crystalline delight;
Keeping time, time, time,
In a sort of Runic rhyme,
To the tintinnabulation that so musically wells
From the bells, bells, bells, bells,
Bells, bells, bells
From the jingling and the tinkling of the bells. "
- Exerpt from Edgar Allan Poe's poem "The Bells"

This was once the location of St. Luke's Church in Hamlet which stood from 1877 - 1996. The plaque reads, as follows:

"IN MEMORY OF THIS LOVELY ANGLICAN CHURCH, THE PIONEERS AND ALL THE FAMILIES WHO PRAYED AND WORSHIPPED HERE FOR 119 YEARS - TO THE GLORY OF GOD
-THEY DID NOT LABOUR IN VAIN-"
