Googly Eyes Are Watching You! Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Andalusite: This cache has been missing for some time and as the owner has not responded to recent logs or logged into geocaching.com for some time I am archiving it.

Guidelines: "You are responsible for occasional visits to your cache to maintain proper working order, especially when someone reports a problem with the cache (missing, damaged, wet, etc.). You may temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to search for it until you have a chance to fix the problem. This feature is to allow you a reasonable amount of time - normally a few weeks - in which to check on your cache. If a cache is not being maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an unreasonable length of time, we may archive the listing."

If you wish to email me please send your email via my profile (click on my name) and quote the cache name and number.

How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

Cache is a black and green plastic jar which includes small swag and log book. From most walking directions the terrain is flat and well maintained (Buggy friendly). However, good footwear is still advised. Also the weather can change quickly at this location (it is in Wales) so take appropriate gear.
Shop/Cafe/Park/Toilets all within walking distance. Children to be kept close due to water/traffic risks.

A traditional cache just off the Mon and Brecon Canal, near Goytre Wharf. Suitable for all.

Cache can be found at: N51 degrees 44.804 - W002 degrees 59.678

Nearby is a Saron Church and Baptismal pool with some really nice public footpath walks which have views of the surrounding mountains. The cache route is buggy and dog appropriate. However, be mindful of the road/traffic in the vicinity of the cache. Several local caches can be also accessed from this point, including the Ancient Yew, SWMC1 or the Folly for those who fancy a more challenging/circular hike. The cache is placed away from main canal route, but close to a road to reduce muggle activity, so please be careful!
Route:
If heading from the Goytre Wharf continue towards Pontypool, with the canal on your right hand side. Walk for approx 8 minutes until you come to the first bridge you can walk under. Do not go under the bridge. Take the slipway to the left and you will be close to the cache located on top of ‘74’.
To get to the Church: walk down the road/hill past the houses for approx 3 minutes.

Cache can be accessed from other routes by cycling (route 49), walking or by car:
– The village of Goytre, walking along the canal towards Goytre Wharf (Just look out for the correct bridge) or a 1 minute drive off the main A4042 Abergavenny road – This way you come past the Saron Church first.
Please sign log sheet. Good luck
Certificate for first to find.

Road has public access and is legally accessible. Public Footpaths are also accessible for all.
