Geocache Description:

Fourth cache in the Lord of the Rings series. You must find the first 16 caches in the series and gather the clues to unlock the coordinates for the last 4 caches. You do not necessarily need to do the caches in order, however the numbering scheme follows the progression of the story. See the Introduction and Helpful Info page for more details on the series.

Wow! That was a narrow escape from the Nazgûl at the Prancing Pony! What have you gotten yourself into? As the Ringbearer, it is slowly dawning on you that your friend Gandalf has hoodwinked you into getting this ring to a safe place, but where might that be?

While you were at the Prancing Pony, and just before the Nazgûl crashed the party, you were able to meet up with Strider, a friend of Gandalf's, who fills you in that your buddy Gandalf has stood you up. Strider displayed some remarkable swordsmanship and cunning to get you all out of the Prancing Pony, and now he says that you must travel to Rivendell to the House of Elrond, where Gandalf will meet you (you hope).

Rivendell is the home of the House of Elrond, a vastly beautiful valley that is at the heart of the Elvish kingdom. Rivendell is home to beautiful forests, and the elves who live there are skilled craftsmen. They have fashioned a cache to protect the clues that have been entrusted to them to keep safe from the prying eyes of Sauron's spies. Find the clues in the cache to help you on your quest.

Be sure to stop by and say hello to Hagley while you're there. He is Elrond's lesser known son who runs some kind of a museum there in Rivendell.
