Having found the Black Gate closed, Gollum suggests another way to get into Mordor. You agree, and follow his lead south along the foothills of the Mountains of Shadow. Along the way, you stop to make supper of coneys and PO-TA-TOES (as Sam would say), which sure beats the sausage pizza and pork rinds you had the other night (you really need to stop that...).
You hear strange noises and go to investigate. What you find is that another army of the Haradrim are on their way north to the Black Gate. Suddenly, this army is ambushed by men hiding in the forest, and you are caught in the crossfire! As you try to escape, the men surround you and easily take you prisoner (maybe those jiu-jitsu classes might have been worth it after all...).
After questioning you overnight and discovering that you have the One Ring, they take you to Osgiliath, their once majestic city that defends the river crossing between Mordor and Gondor. As they were planning to take you and the ring back to Minas Tirith as a gift for the Steward of Gondor to use in the war against Sauron, Osgiliath is suddenly attacked by the Nazgul, who are still looking for the ring. The Nazgul no longer ride horses, but in their attempt to stay fashionable they now ride on winged beasts that are similar to dragons, because those are all the rage among the Nazgul these days.
Faramir, the captain of the men of Gondor, now knows what it is that hunts you and decides that the best course of action is to allow you to continue on your journey. Yeah, I wouldn't want those things following me either. As a parting gift, he has hidden a cache in Osgiliath that contains some clues to help you along the way.
