Geocache Description:

This is a very small cache with some Forever stamps for FTF and micro SWAG. The coordinates should place you at the SW end of the structure, just inches east of the spiral.

From the site of this cache is a view of where the only Beatles concert played in San Diego was located. Other great concerts (some of which I attended) include Jimi Hendrix, Jefferson Airplane; The Doors, CSN&Y, Santana, Country Joe and the Fish, Chicago, Elton John, Steely Dan, Sly and the Family Stone, the Eagles and Linda Ronstadt. Many athletic teams played here as well including the Chargers when they first arrived in San Diego from L.A.

The stadium is owned by the city and was originally built in 1914 for the Panama-Pacific Exposition as park of Balboa Park. President Wilson made history here when he spoke to a large crowd using an electronic voice amplification system. It was the first time a president had ever used such technology. Other presidents who spoke in this stadium include FDR and JFK.
