This cache has been archived.

Wis Kid: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

This cache is part six of a series of caches which will provide a little trivia on the area you are searching. This cache is hidden in the Root River Parkway, close to Forest Home Ave. You are searching for a camoed pill bottle. Please put the cache back in the same spot and manor that it was hidden.

Forest Home Ave. was once known as Janesville Plank Road. It was one of 16 privately owned toll roads authorized by the Wisconsin Territorial Legislature in 1848. The road took a 65 mile route from Milwaukee to Janesville. The toll road was built on an existing roadbed known as the 1838 Janesville Territorial Road. The Janesville Territorial Road was an Indian trail that went from the rice marshes in Milwaukee, to Janesville.

It is pretty incredible to think of those who journeyed along roads such as this 160+ years ago!

(Another tiny piece of trivia- we found our very first cache where one was located (now archived) across the street from this one...six months and 1100 caches ago!)

For more information, see the nearby road marker.

Permission to place this cache was given by Brian Russart; Permit #128.

Congratulations to Hugh Foundit on FTF!!
