This is one of a series of caches placed along the Newry Canal towpath. The route follows the towpath of the now disused Newry Canal. Built in 1742 this canal was the first summit level canal in the British Isles. The Newry Canal Way is a 20 mile long distance route running from Portadown to Newry along the restored towpath of the former Newry Canal. This linear walk/cycle route provides a flat, level surface suitable for all. This area is very popular with the local muggles so please be discreet when logging the find. The cache is micro container with log only so please byop. Please replace cache and cover exactly as found when logging the find. The cache is placed near Gamble's Bridge, I have no explanation as to why the information board for this feature is nearly 2km away on the Newry side. This is one of a series of caches placed on or near the the towpath between Newry and Scarva, All are designed as easy finds the aim is to bring the finder for a pleasant walk or cycle along the towpath. Do not park on the A27 or A28 other than at dedicated access points, the land between the main road and the towpath is private property
