Geocache Description:

N51° SS.EIC - W003° SH.RPS

A number of cachers have been in touch who were very close (mind you, some were way out), some now have the correct solution. Well done all! Who will be the first to find?

This cache like our other puzzle caches introduce a range of techniques used to hide information.

This is a simple substitution cipher which utilises a key. A simple technique that I learnt about whilst reading a book about the SOE by Leo Marks. One of the first codes he broke as a child was that used by his father and his business partner in their book shop at 84 Charring Cross Road, Marks & Co. They used a code to mark the inside of a second hand book with the price they paid for a book, so that all four members of staff working in the shop knew how much they could discount a book and still make a profit in the sale.

As Eclectic Penguin mentioned in an online forum, "everything you need is on the cache page".

Good luck, and enjoy!

Emyr

The fun of a puzzle cache is in the solving of the puzzle for one's self. I have no wish for any of my puzzle caches to be spoilt by them being shared on Geocache Puzzle solving forums!
