Geocache Description:

Known locally as ‘The Firs’ this area was peaceful, shady and covered with fir trees and grassy glades and dells until 1917 when the trees were felled to make trench props for the First World War, ironically before the wood could reach the coast the war was over and it was dumped.

It is now a Site of Special Scientific interest as an area of natural heath land on a sand soil, covered in heath, broom and with the occasional oak or silver birch.

The cache is not on the heath itself but nearby, and if you are coming from the cache in The Alameda, you will cross the heath, please keep to the paths and respect the site!

If you are caching with young children, please take care as there is a steep bank near the first waypoint and a bit of a scramble to the final cache.

Question to answer - how many trunks on the silver birch? = A

Cache is at N52 01.A(A-2)(A+3) W0 30.(A-4)(A+2)0

please log any DNFs or problems
