Geocache Description:

Located at the Vestal Masonic Temple, this cache should be a quick grab n' go. There is a large parking lot on site, please park in the back. Watch your footing as there is some debris from flooding and high weeds.
Permission has been granted from the Vestal Temple Board for this cache to be placed and for people to find it.

The Vestal Masonic Temple was built in 1963, and is home to St. Mark's - Vestal #435 F&AM, or SMV 435.
SMV is a consolidation of six area lodges:
Otseningo lodge #435 - Chartered in 1857
Vestal Lodge #1144 - Chartered in 1953
St. Mark's Lodge #1001 - Chartered in 1921
Philetus Lodge #1023 - Chartered in 1922
Otseningo and Vestal consolidated in 1999 to form Vestal - Otseningo Lodge #435
St. Mark's and Philetus consolidated in 1978 to form St. Mark's - Philetus #1001

In 2011, both St. Mark's - Philetus #1001 and Vestal - Otseningo #435 started talks leading to a consolidation on October 7th, 2011, forming what is now St. Mark's - Vestal #435.

This cache was placed to commemorate this merger and is not affiliated with Freemasonry nor was it placed to promote the fraternity.
