To work out the correct co-ordinates and claim the bonus cache you need to find nearly all of the other 13 caches in the Nostalgia series:
GC3H22F Nostalgia - Temperatures
GC301RX Nostalgia - Lake Middle
GC301TV Nostalgia - Sandown High
GC36V1Y Nostalgia - Battery Gardens
GC301VC Nostalgia - Near The Pier
GC301W7 Nostalgia - Down The Hut
GC39Q5K Nostalgia - Welcome Steps
GC301QW Nostalgia - Gatten & Lake
GC5X18A Nostalgia - M&A's Emerald Wedding Anniversary
GC3BCX6 Nostalgia - D&D’s Golden Wedding Anniversary
GC32YE9 Nostalgia - Victoria Avenue
GC3H26D Nostalgia - Batts Copse
GC3H27P Nostalgia - Random Hyde
There’s no need to find the cache containers in any particular order.
Each of them contains a letter and a number selected at random by the boys in team SPO and Mum.
Some of the letters and numbers look very similar so be careful not to confuse them.
The Bonus cache is located at: N 50 38. (A-S) (P+S) (W*N) W 001 1(O-E). (N*M) (R+N) (Y-M)
You're looking for a 1.9 litre click-lock box in a camo bag.
Keep a sharp lookout for the many muggles who use this area!
If you want to complete this series as a circular walk, we have included very basic walk directions on each of the individual cache descriptions, so you should be able to find the best route around the series (whether going clockwise or anti-clockwise) without needing a detailed map or having to backtrack too much.
You can begin at any point on the route and it doesn't matter if you go clockwise or anticlockwise but you might find it better if you start at either;
Clockwise: GC3H22F Nostalgia - Temperatures
Anticlockwise: GC3H27P Nostalgia - Random Hyde
If you’re staying at Hyde, Ninham or Landguard holiday parks, you’re perfectly placed to leave the car behind and start the walk from your accommodation.
Otherwise, free roadside parking is available at Cedar Drive (see additional waypoint), but it’s a quiet residential area so please be considerate. From there, you can head south along bridleway SS89 towards Ninham, then W along Whitecross Lane to join the circuit at the crossing of the tracks by the green Landguard sign.
If you stick more or less to the suggested route, the walk is nearly 11.5km long in total.
It's easily split up into shorter sections if you want to sample the many interesting distractions on the route and/or find some other local caches. Terrain varies from very easy (OK to do in bare feet) to uneven and muddy (hiking boots recommended).
The scenery is a mix of country, town, cliff path, and beach revetment. Some road sections, but mostly very quiet and with good pavements, and there are only a handful of busier roads to cross (mainly with suitable pedestrian crossings).
Many sections of the route are suitable for wheelchair users, but most of the caches are not.
Please contact us if you want more information about wheelchair route options, and we‘ll do our best to help.
Congratulations on the first to find go to Nasogastric - very well done for carrying on caching with injuries and in monsoon conditions!
