This area is full of fond memories for our family. The cache is fairly easy to find...but you will only understand the cache name if you walk from the cache location about 1/4 mile south along the bluff trail to point N 036 31.829' / W 121 55.512' and then look back to the north across the beach and you'll see it... "Eagle Rock" (named by our kids...so you have to use a bit of imagination).
This stretch of coast was always a favorite of our kids when they were growing up. At "Eagle Rock" beach (our family's name for this special place) we have collected sea glass, watched dolphins frolick, felt big kahuna waves crash to shore, walked with the pup, enjoyed many a picnic after church, filmed a Christmas video for the grandparents back in Montana, seen an uncle get engaged, watched cross country races, and enjoyed Rio Resolution Runs, made drift wood teepees, took naps in the rain, marveled at Point Lobos, and been mezmorized by glorious sunsets. Hope you enjoy creating your own memories. (Note: Access/parking is from either Carmel River Beach turn out (only when the river is "not" running through the beach to the sea) or via Carmel Riveria area - a small neighborhood off Hwy 1 south of Carmel (park at end of Ribera Road and access beach via stair steps).
