Sign of the times Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Team Laxson: Just as the story leading up to this cache, progress must move forward. After receiving an email from BaconFudge that something didn't look right, we made a trip here to check it out. Well, it's gone, as is what remained of the history here. The natural camo has been removed too, and there's really nowhere left to hide a replacement, so we'll say goodbye to this one in the name of progress

Geocache Description:

It's amazing to watch development. It spawns families, communities, businesses, and changes the landscape of an area. Sometimes it's a good thing. While other times, you have to question why someone thought it was a good idea in the first place. This location falls into the latter category.
Back in the late '50s (or 60s), a local businessman decided to open a franchise restaurant here.

The business did quite well for a number of years, but the '80s took a toll on area and ownership changed hands a number of times. By the late 1990's, the area was seeing growth again, and by 2000 it has expanded into a larger (remodeled) facility which included an unconventional parking lot and drive thru. It was a conceptual project that held high expectations, but yielded different results. The community couldn't adjust to the change in "norm" and the concept resulted in numerous car accidents and injuries. The resulting lawsuits put a strain on finances, and by 2003 they were forced to shut their doors.

By 2004, the building was demolished and the lot became the location for a temporary school. But again, due to the economic downturn, the school closed by late 2008. Now, there's very little left in the area, except what you see at Ground Zero.
