Geocache Description:

No need to move anything. If you get in the right spot, you'll be able to see it & remove it without moving anything. We love letterboxing & our first cache found, happened to be a letterbox-hybrid as well. The box itself is a sandwich sized plastic container with a stamp, ink pad & log book.

** update 9/20/2020 - I carved a new stamp for this...fingers crossed no one will take it! The stamp went missing years ago but I was too busy being a parent to maintain it. Now my kids are old enough to WANT to go letterboxing and caching! So I took them out to update the box. My wife and I were happy to see a relatively new trail sign on our drive to work. After taking a hike with our new daughter, we thought this would be a nice place for our first cache as a family. The name "Infinite Love" is of course what we now have in our life as a new family. If you are caching with kids, this should be a fun one for them to get, but parents should be the ones to make the grab. This cache is located on off route 85 on the boarder of Salem & Colchester CT. There is parking for several cars, across from the wooden "Welcome to Salem - A Town Proud of its Volunteers" sign. Take the red trail in toward the cache; it's much easier than going straight to if from the road. If you have some time, look for the multi-cache that is also in this preserve. It's meant to be a bit challenging, but most of it is right along the trail. This is a quick description of Wheaton Preserve from the DEEP's website: Project Title: Wheaton Preserve, Salem Sponsor: Salem Land Trust Total Area: 19.67 acres Grant Amount: $55,000 Comments: Located off Hartford Road (Route 85), this parcel spans the deepest gorge in Salem through which Big Brook runs, at the headwaters of the Eightmile River watershed (recently designated as a Wild & Scenic River). This parcel lies within an intact hemlock/hardwood forest block that is key to the protection of forest-interior birds, with upland and lowland forest, ledges and caves. I also found this description on the Salem Land Trust's site Big Brook Gorge Preserve- 19.67 acres From Salem 4-corners: North on Rt. 85 (Hartford Rd.) for ~3 mi., the Preserve is the last property in the Town of Salem on the East side of Rt. 85. Pull off and park by the side of the road. A sign marking the property will be placed along the roadside in Spring 2011. Dogs are allowed on leashes; no hunting or motorized vehicles.
