This is event number three on our way around Alabama in order to complete the Alabama State Parks Geo Challenge.
This ASPGC is the TOUGHEST on the list and Boy Scout Troop 191 lead by the B4Team and myself are here to help geocachers attempt this find.
We will meet at the large pavilion at 11:00 am for a potluck picnic. So please bring your favorite picnic item. Be sure to include in your “will attend” log what you wish to share with the group and the number in your party.
***Boy Scout Troop 191 will be providing the dessert for this event. As they will be cooking up something delicious in the Dutch ovens, in addition they will have a grill available for use as well.***
This park has over 70+ caches of various types, sizes, difficulty, and terrains and is sure to be one of the favorites among Geocachers.
I will have two kayaks for use as this ASPGC requires a boat. If you have a kayak or a canoe and are willing to bring for others to use please lets us know in your “Will Attend” log.
The park does have boats for rent. Jon boat rental is $7.50/day and a Canoe rental is $5.00/hour. Please see below for the rules regarding boat rental.
Camping is also available for those that want to spend the weekend caching in this beautiful park.
What is the Alabama State Parks Geocaching Challenge?
This challenge is being done by the Alabama State Parks of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and will include all 22 state parks. A new geocache (one of the following type: traditional, puzzle, letter box or multi) has been hidden at each of the state parks. Most of the caches, if not all, will be of the creative type is regular size containers or larger. Each cache will have a log book, trade items and all are kid friendly. Also, each one will have information or a code that will be needed for the final puzzle cache for the Alabama State Park Geocaching Challenge. Once a cacher has all the information they will be able to solve the final Challenge Puzzle Cache. Anyone solves the final puzzle will receive a geocoin that has been made for this challenge. The only way to get this coin will be to complete the challenge.
