The original one room schoolhouse was opened in 1905 as part of district #60. A second room was added to the original schoolhouse in 1940. District #60 was reorganized with several other districts into the Willard R-II school district in 1951 and the last classes were held in the schoolhouse in 1953. The building was eventually sold off in 1983 and became Schuyler Community Center.
