Geocache Description:

A small cache placed along a water course near the Lynton Quarries.

When I was growing up I used to walk and ride around the Lynton Quarries all the time. Back then of course there were very few trails and most of them where more like goat tracks. I often would come to this waterfall well up a gully below Windy Point.

Even though this cache is mapped as being next to Belair Road, I assure you it isn't easily accessable from the road and there is nowhere near you can park the car and walk to it from Belair Road except Windy Point. I wouldn't suggest parking there as then you will have to cross the road a scramble down a steep rocky hill to get to it.

The best place to park or access this cache from is from the gates at the end of Beagle Tce. from there you can go past the cache 'Take A Break' and then follow the 'Seaview Walk' trail that starts in the corner of the park (check out the information board for trail details). This trail goes along the creek a fair way then comes back on the other side, but you will also find a trail that keeps following the creek. It will cross the creek a few times and eventually you will get to the small waterfall. This trail can be muddy and slippery when wet as well as the rocks you have to scramble up can be too, so a bit of caution will be needed.

I wanted to place this cache at the waterfall but it would have been to close to an existing cache so I decided to place it above the waterfall. It does involve a small rocky slope climb but nothing too hard.

You will be looking for a 100ml Sistema container with a logbook, pencil and some small swaps.

The best time of year to go in to this area is during the cooler months as it is generally greener and very picturesque. Unfortunately in the hotter months the area can be inhabited by snakes and the grasses can be prickly.

You will also notice a lot of rubbish along the trail which is a bit unfortunate, but if you look closely at some of it you will see that it has been there for many years. There are a lot of old tyres and a few car/truck panels along the way as well as an old bed head and much more.
