Geocache Description:

A delightfully quiet village that lies unnoticed from the main Whitby to Guisborough road. There is a bench were you can sit and look over the Esk valley        PLEASE DO NOT PARK ON THE GRASS VERGE.

There are lovely views across the Esk valley towards Sleights and the moors. The many fine, imposing stone houses in the village were built from locally quarried stone. The Aislaby quarry, which was reopened in 2002, supplied some of the finest sandstone for buildings in London and a host of English seaside piers. The grave of the famous Whitby photographer, Frank Meadow Sutcliffe, can be seen in the graveyard.
