Once again, you are going to the oldest forest preserve in DuPage County, surprisingly not too far from a major shopping center. Parking on 2 sides, but hey, leave the car at home and use your bike to get there! Nice peaceful area that you may not have visited before. Great variety of flora (and fauna) along the trails.
From our friends at the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County: "In 2015, the Forest Preserve District will be celebrating our 100th Anniversary. We are currently celebrating the 100th Anniversary with a Geocaching Extravaganza by featuring new and existing caches around the county. Each of these caches will contain a unique sticker and/or a passport booklet from the Forest Preserve District. Geocachers will find these caches, and place one sticker from the cache into their passport. Once they collect five of the eight caches, they can turn their book in at Fullersburg Woods for a prize which will be a Forest Preserve District Geocoin. We plan on featuring new and current caches each year, which will lead to new coins until the 100th Anniversary in 2015."
The original YWFP cache was archived some time ago. But the FPDDC asked me to re-place it since this cache was one of the first official geocaches that they approved and since York Woods was the very first piece of property they purchased in 1915.
So therefore, now you have YWFP Redux!
The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County has approved this cache knowing that geocachers will respect this location. The FPDDC does a great job in preserving nature for all of us to enjoy! Their rules and regulations require that the following is posted for legality issues.
1.This Geocache is placed on DuPage County Forest Preserve property with permission.
2.Do not place the following items in the Geocache: Food items, inappropriate, offensive, or hazardous materials.
3.DuPage County Forest Preserve hours are 1 hour after sunrise until 1 hour after sunset. Preserve users must not be in the preserves after hours.
4.It is the visitor's responsibility to be aware of the policies and rules pertaining to this preserve. For more information on preserve rules, see the information kiosk in the parking lot of the preserve or contact Visitor Services at (630) 933-7248.
5.All Statutes, Ordinances, rules and regulations pertaining to the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County are applicable.
