Geocache Description:

This is a Letterbox-Hybrid cache.

The cache isn't at the posted coordinates, you'll need to follow the provided clues to find it. Once there, you can exchange stamp imprints. If you don't have a stamp, you can still find the cache. Just sign the log like any other cache, or use some artistic talent and draw a stamped signature for yourself!

The stamp and inkpad within the cache are NOT swag, please be sure that they remain in the cache!

Having read through the logs of those who have found this cache during spring fling, I need to state what I thought was obvious but apparently was not. The pirate’s map is NOT required to locate the cache. Loading it onto your GPSr, or printing it out, may very well help and even add to the fun of the hunt, but it isn’t necessary. By starting out at either the “Pirate’s Mess & Market” or “Land Schooner Parking” Waypoints it is simply a matter of reading the cache listing and following the appropriate directions to the location of the cache. Alternately, the means of actually figuring out the coordinates for the cache are provided by Waypoint R7. Thanks to everyone for such wonderful feedback!

If you have a GPSr which is capable of displaying custom maps, then a version of the pirate map for use on your GPSr, with basic instructions for use and compatibility, are available here: GPS Pirate Map

If ye be wishin' t'travel to a closer birth from the Pirates' Market by land schooner, then ye will have to set yerself a southward course until ye reach a land schooner trail. Follow that trail as it goes to the southwest and west, keeping the Diminutive Sea to your port side. Mind ye well! When ye sees that Pygmy Village to the south ye must look sharply to starboard fer a chance t'leave the schooner trail. Follow this new trail t'find a spot where ye can leave yer land schooner and proceed afoot! Now follow yer feet to the south, crossin’ the schooner trail and descending the stone steps. Keep ye the Pigmy Village to yer port and the Bat Cave to yer Starboard. Follow this course along a blackened trail until it has curved to starboard near to the shore of the Diminutive Sea. Watch ye close now for a shadowy trail headin’ off through trees towards the water. ‘Tis the shadowy earthen trail ye wants to follow, and not the blackened trail, which continues on and away from the Diminutive Sea! Be lively now, for the treasure's nearby! When ye encounter the giant deadwood standing then yer good'n'close! Ah! But if'n ye wishes to locate me treasure from the Pirate's Market afoot then ye must headout to the southwest and keep Wreck Mountain always t'yer port side! If'n ye follow the mountain's edge ye will find a trail t'bring ye down past the land schooner trail to the shores of the Diminutive Sea. There ye shall find a pennant flying high above stones, bushes and flowers and with a blackened trail passin’ close by. From this mark, head ye west and mind that ye stick close to the blackened trail if'n ye wants me treasure! When ever ye comes to a fork in the trail then always abide by the water side trail. When the trail yer on comes smack to another near to the bat cave, then follow the new trail on towards the water until it has curved to starboard. This be the time to keep a lively eye out fer a shadowy earthen trail heading off through trees towards the water! When ye sees it then it be time to abandon that blackened trail and head into the shadows of the earthen trail. Be lively now, for me treasure's close by! When ye encounter the giant deadwood standing then yer good'n'close! Aye! Listen ye well to me final words, and the tresure'll be yours fer sure! The deadwood standing has a mighty girth and still it stands quite high, but much of it's length lies on the ground nearby. Step ye into the woods 'tween the standing and the fallen. Admire ye this fallen giant, and mark well where it lies. For at it's far end, 'tween round and ground is where me treasure lies!
