Geocache Description:

This cache is dedicated to the team of DoolinBanjos who first learned about geocaching while visiting friends in Dúlainn, Ireland.

Dúlainn or Doolin is a coastal village in County Clare, Ireland, on the Atlantic coast. It borders the spa town of Lisdoonvarna.  Doolin has long been a noted centre of traditional Irish music, which is played nightly in its pubs, making it a popular tourist destination. There are numerous nearby archaeological sites, many dating to the Iron Age and earlier. Doonagore Castle and Ballinalacken Castle are also in the area.

There are three Music-Pubs in Doolin: McDermott's, McGann's and O'Connor's, where you can find music nightly during the summer months and - if in the right place at the right time - some of the best sessions in the winter. Many well-known names in the Irish Traditional Music Scene have started out in Doolin and numerous already famous musicians have come just to join in a session.

The music is not the only reason people love to visit  Doolin.  Its location is perfect for exploring North Clare with its beautiful sites like the Cliffs of Moher among a beautiful coastline and The Burren with the Aillwee Cave and the famous Poulnabrone Dolmen.

The Cliffs of Moher, at a height of over 200 meters are among the highest in Europe. They extend for 8 km from Hag's Head to Aill  na  Searrach.

While looking around for a suitable location for a cache in honour of this caching team, I found a nice little spot in Pickering that is also popular for summer music and great views of Lake Ontario.  In fact, if you come on particular nights in the summer months, bring a lawn chair and enjoy the free concerts and entertainment at the waterfront.  See the attached summer music schedule.

This cache is a short two stage multicache.  At the first stage find a place to “Tarry awhile, enjoy the waves, wind and even silence”.

1.        Add the last number in year found at the posted coordinates,  from the last number for the north coordinate  to find your new north coordinate

2.       Take the first name and last name on the plaque (both names have three letters) and assign a value to each letter where  A =1, B = 2 etc.   Add the numbers and subtract them from the posted west coordinate.

3.       Count the number of letters in the middle name on the plaque and add this number to the number you calculated in the previous calculation for the west coordinate.  You should now have your new west coordinate.
